Community Engagement

Community Engagement

Community engagement will fuel the movement towards greater accountability within our communities.  There are several options for raising your voice and contributing your talents:

Option 1: Comment on the blog posts on this site.  Anyone reading will know your perspective and/or what you can contribute and hopefully connections can and will be made.

Option 2: Engage organizations directly as an individual or as a group of family, friends, neighbors, etc.

Option 3: Do both!

Please see the list of organizations that serve African Nova Scotians here.

Guiding Principle

Accountable to ourselves, our friends and family, our community.

Accountable to ourselves: it is important to prioritize our values, pursue our dreams, and practice self-care.

Accountable to our family and friends: it is hard to take serious the revolutionary who wants to use thier talents to uplift marginalized people, but can't support their partner, children, and close friends.

Accountable to our community: community is a broad term, often applied to all African Nova Scotians.  When utilized in this guiding princple it refers to not only one one's physical community, but also to one's cultural and professional communities as well.
